Pure Tone Audiometry
Pure Tone Audiometry is a standard hearing test that measures the softest, or least audible, sound that you can hear. This test involves listening to a range of tones through headphones and indicating when you can hear them. It helps determine the type and degree of hearing loss, providing a baseline for further treatment and intervention.
Impedance Audiometry
Impedance Audiometry, also known as Tympanometry, assesses the middle ear’s function by measuring eardrum movement in response to changes in air pressure. This test helps diagnose issues such as fluid in the middle ear and Eustachian tube dysfunction, oering crucial information about middle ear health.
Otoacoustic Emissions Test
The Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) Test evaluates the function of the outer hair cells in the cochlea (inner ear). It involves placing a small probe in the ear canal that emits sounds and measures the ear’s response. This test is beneficial for newborn hearing screening and detecting hearing loss in individuals who cannot actively participate in conventional hearing tests.
